H.E Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak has devoted her career to environmental conservation. She is a board member and the Secretary General of the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD), the largest environmental regulator in the Arabian Gulf, with a crucial role in conservation and the promotion of sustainable development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Under her leadership, the Emirate underwent a myriad of changes to the environment, and the Agency had to evolve quickly to keep pace with the rapid development. Mrs. Al Mubarak is also the Managing Director of the Mohamed Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund – one of the world’s largest philanthropic endowments supporting species conservation in over 200 countries. Under her leadership, the fund has garnered global attention for demonstrating best practice in the sustainability of their endowment-based funding model. She is the Chairperson of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) and is the Managing Director of Emirates Wildlife Society in association with WWF. Mrs. Al Mubarak serves as a member of many of Abu Dhabi’s interconnected environmental influencers and stakeholders, including the Infrastructure and Environment Committee to the General Secretariat of Abu Dhabi Executive Council. She is also a board member of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation, and the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority. In addition, she is an Advisory Board member of the Rockefeller Foundation Economic Council on Planetary Health, the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, the Emirates Diplomatic Academy, Panthera, and the Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy Initiative (WiSER). In recognition of her global role in the field of environment and sustainability, in 2018, she was selected by the World Economic Forum as one of the top 100 young sector leaders who contribute to building a more sustainable future for humankind. Fueled by her passion for the arts and the preservation of culture, she became a member of the board of advisors to the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF). Mrs. Al Mubarak holds an MSc in Public Understanding of Environmental Change from the University College London, UK and a BA (hons) in Environmental Studies and International Relations from Tufts University, Massachusetts, USA.
