Under the Patronage of Sheikh Hazza Bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) will be co-organizing the 14th Annual Clean-Up Arabia Campaign, in cooperation with the Emirates Diving Association, a locally based non-governmental organisation. This campaign will not only help clear beaches and key dive sites from harmful marine debris, but will also help raise public awareness about the negative impacts of marine debris on health and wildlife.

Both organizations call upon the public to join these free activities and to carry out their responsibility toward protecting the marine environment.

On November 20, the Eastern Mangroves and Shore clean-up using kayaks will be held, while on November 21, a clean-up will held at Al Mirfa Fishermen’s Port and Public Beach. Hundreds of volunteers, including students and divers, from all over the region will participate in these two clean-ups.

EAD and EDA will also be organizing several awareness activities from 15-19 November 2009. These include seminars, a screening of the captivating documentary Abu Dhabi: Home of the Legendary Mermaids, and a day completely dedicated to children. The drive is being supported by GASCO Diving Club, ADMA-OPCO and Noukhada Adventure Company.
