Named Man of the Year during the Arab Youth Festival in Beirut, Lebanon for his leading role in environmental protection and combating desertification (September 1993).

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) awarded him for his greenery drive in the UAE and a number of developing countries. (December 1995) FAO's Director-General has said:
“The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization builds its strategies on the principle of development sustainability. Such a principle copes with the environmental development thought of Sheikh Zayed.”

The Arab League granted him an award for his efforts in combating desertification and his interest in promoting environmental and developmental projects in the UAE and Arab and Islamic countries. (1995).

The Middle East Center for Research and Studies in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia awarded him (1995).

He was awarded the Golden Panda Award from the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) in appreciation for his efforts in wildlife conservation.

He was granted an honorary Doctorate in Agriculture from the University of Ain Shams for his remarkable efforts in agricultural development projects. (June 1997).

The Arab Cities Association, in its 6th round, held in Doha awarded him. (March 1998)

He was chosen by the French Man of the Year organization to be the most prominent figure for his efforts in fighting desertification, and his interest in environment and development projects. (1998).

On the occasion of World Environment Day, he was honored in Lebanon. (June 2000).

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) granted him the World Day for Food medal to honor his efforts in serving humanity and his great interest in agriculture issues and water resources, and for helping to provide for people in poorer countries. (May 2001).
